As parents, we always want what’s best for our children. Many think a dance studio is just a dance studio. But, all dance studios are not the same. Knowing that you want the best for your child, we want to provide the best dance and music education for your child!
When choosing a dance studio, here are 5 key questions you should ask before making your final decision!
1. What will my child be learning?
Unlike some other dance studios, we have a set curriculum for each and every one of our dance classes regardless of age and style. Our curriculum builds upon one another to set your child up for success if they decide to continue their dance education in the future.
2. Who will be teaching my child?
At Sharon’s Studio of Dance & Music, we have many highly trained teachers with a variety of areas of expertise! All of our teachers are also required to continue their dance training to provide the best possible instruction for your child.
3. Am I able to observe my child’s class?
Over the years, we have found that especially with our younger students, it is important for parents to be able to observe classes and see their children, but it’s not always beneficial for the children to be able to see their parents. Having mom or dad within sight may cause children to get distracted more easily. Therefore, at Sharon’s Studio of Dance & Music, we have closed circut TVs in our waiting rooms so that parents are able to watch classes right outside the door, but they cannot be seen by the children. In addition to that, we host parent visitation weeks, where we invite parents into the classroom for a special presentation of what the students have been working on!
4. What if I have questions or need immediate assistance? Who can I ask?
Many studios do not have someone to help parents with any questions they may have. If the teacher is in the classroom, the parent has to wait until they are done and available to answer questions. We understand that this can be inconvenient for the parent to not have an immediate answer when needed as well as for the teachers and students if they are caught up answering questions between their classes. With that understanding, we have office staff available during all regularly scheduled class times to assist you with any and all questions you may have.
5. Will there be a recital and does my child have to participate?
At the end of each season in June, we host our annual dance & music recital. Though we do offer students the choice to opt-out, the majority of our students do participate. Though recital season can be a hectic time of year, we offer a hassle free recital! If costume alterations are needed, we take care of it for you.
